Project

Company: Syndigo - a Saas company whose software supports the syncing of product data in a variety of industries; recently rebranded as one company after multiple acquisitions.

Background: In December 2018 Edgenet was acquired by Gladson. Gladson had amassed a menagerie of 5 smaller companies in total, and in January 2019, announced the rebranding of all of them as one giant company, Syndigo. Syndigo’s product offering, CXH (Content Experience Hub), was also announced, with the intention of being the one-stop product content management solution for retailers and suppliers across every industry.

Approximately 1.5 weeks after Syndigo announced the new company and product, members of the Syndigo leadership team were set to deliver presentations explaining Syndigo and CXH to existing clients at a previously scheduled event held by one of the legacy companies.

Goal: Design a client-facing, reusable graphic to support and communicate Syndigo’s explanation of CXH and its 4 key value propositions.

Constraints: 4 day turnaround; key concepts were provided to us in the form of the 4 value propositions, or “4 pillars,” and their descriptions.

Team: Whitney Mitchell - Designer; Adam Partin - Product Marketing Manager.

Process

The first step was brainstorming. As a team, we discussed the level of information we wanted to convey, the audience, and the fact that even though we had to create something in a hurry, it would likely be reused in a variety of scenarios moving forward. We sketched some concepts, and honed in on the most communicative idea, which could be made more simple or more complex as needed.

Next, I created several mockups of different layouts, some of which showed the cyclical nature of the 4 pillars’ value, some representing them as pieces of the larger concept, CXH.

The team settled on Option 3, and I moved on to refine it using the Syndigo brand colors.

Results

I used each of our vibrant brand colors to represent the 4 pillars, and our dark navy as the CXH core, creating versions of the infographic with and without descriptions of the 4 pillars.

I then created a version without any specification around the 4 pillars, which could be used on smaller screen sizes, or to support CXH messaging that’s not specifically about the pillars. In addition, I created a more minimal, monochrome version of the infographic, anticipating use cases where the vibrant colors may not be suitable.
